South Jakarta Police Denies There Is A Use Of Guns In The Beating Case In Tebet
South Jakarta Metro Police confirmed that the alleged use of firearms (senpi) in the beating case in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Sunday, November 9, 2025 night has not been proven. This is based on the analysis of CCTV footage around the scene.
Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Dwi Manggalayuda, said the victim had admitted that he was being held at gunpoint by the perpetrator. However, the CCTV check results did not show any suspicious movements or objects that led to the use of firearms.
"We are still investigating the senpi problem. From the CCTV, it is not visible that the perpetrator pointed something at the victim," said Dwi at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Friday, November 14, 2025.
Dwi emphasized that his party had examined three witnesses, including the victim and his partner who were riding together at the time of the incident.
Although the perpetrators have not been arrested, the police claim to have pocketed their identities.
"The perpetrator is still being searched. We are also collecting other CCTVs around the site to strengthen identification," he added.

Investigators also studied the victim's statement that the perpetrator was a member of a certain institution. He emphasized that the information was still limited to the victim's confession and had not been supported by evidence.
"We are still collecting additional CCTV footage", he concluded.
Previously, Tebet Police Chief Kompol Iwan Gunawan said the case of the beating that occurred in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, whose video had gone viral on social media on Sunday, November 9, 2025 night, was allegedly triggered by a collision of a vehicle on the road.
There are indications of a bump, it's normal to walk. From there, one of the parties got emotional and ended up fighting, "he said.
Currently, the case is being handled by the South Jakarta Metro Police.
