A Collision On The Tanah Abang Flyover Due To A Blue Bird Taxi Driver Loss Of Control

JAKARTA - A series of accidents occurred at the incline of the East Cideng Flyover, precisely in front of the Kebon Jahe gas station, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The incident involved three vehicles, namely one Toyota taxi unit number B 2866 SUA, Honda Vario E 3859 UG, and Honda Supra number B 3535 PXT.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the accident began when a taxi driven by DMF (32) drove from north to south.

While climbing on the East Cideng Flyover, the vehicle suddenly lost control, hit a road divider, then crossed the road.

"After hitting the barrier, the position of the taxi vehicle across the road, and the two motorbikes that came from behind did not have time to avoid it, resulting in a series of collisions," said Kombes Susatyo when confirmed.

Two motorcyclists involved in the accident are known to have the initials JS (45), namely a Honda Vario driver, and a Honda Supra rider.

The three of them were injured and immediately evacuated to Pelni Hospital for medical treatment.

"The taxi driver suffered injuries to his right leg and temples of his head, while two motorcyclists suffered injuries to his face, knees, and legs. Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties in this incident," he said.

According to him, the exact cause of the accident is still being investigated by the Laka Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit.

"We have processed the crime scene, examined witnesses, and secured evidence. It is suspected that temporarily, the taxi driver lost concentration while climbing," he said.

Kombes Susatyo also appealed to the public to be more careful when driving, especially on inclines and solid lanes.

"Reduce speed in the uphill area, keep your distance safe, and make sure the vehicle is in good condition. Road safety is a shared responsibility," he said.

As a result of the accident, the front of the Toyota taxi looked wrecked and the back bumper was under construction. The Honda Vario broke in the front body, while the Honda Supra abrased on the right.

This incident went viral on social media, after a number of road users uploaded a video of conditions at the location.

Meanwhile, the police have secured a number of evidences, including the vehicle registration, driver's license, and the three units involved. The police also examined witnesses.
