Nike-Adidas Shoe Factory In Cikande Industrial Estate Exposed To Cs-137, Ministry Of Industry Responds Like This
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has opened its voice about the PT Nikomas Gemilang shoe factory which is contaminated with radioactive Cesium-137 (Cs-137).
The shoe company, located in the Cikande Industrial Estate, Serang Regency, Banten, is a well-known brand manufacturer such as Puma, Adidas to Nike.
According to the Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufik Bawazier, exposure at the location has been taken.
This means that there will be no disruption to production activities at the factory.
"Oh, it's finished, it's finished. Nikomas Gemilang, right? There has been a letter from Bapeten that has been cleared, there is no problem," he said when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 12.
Taufiek also ensured that export activities in Nikomas were not disrupted.
The process of handling radioactive contamination itself is carried out in collaboration with the Nuclear Energy Supervisory Agency (Bapeten).
"No, there is no problem. It means that the exports will hopefully run smoothly. The letters are also already in Bapeten," he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Industry released a list of 24 companies contaminated with radioactive Cs-137 in the Cikande Industrial Estate (MCIE) Modern Industrial Estate, Serang Regency, Banten.
The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Setia Diarta, said the company contaminated with Cs-137 came from various industries, including metal smelting, waste management to the food industry.
The companies exposed to radioactiveity include processed food factories made from poultry, PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk. (CPIN) to PT Nikomas Gemilang, Nike, Adidas and Puma shoe factories.
"The results of the inspection and mapping have been carried out in this industrial area (Cikande), there are three food industries that have exposure to Cesium-137 radiation with a dose rate of 1.6 to 152 microsieverts per hour," he said at a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 10.
