Victims Died As A Result Of Typhoon Fung-wong In The Philippines Increased To 27 People

JAKARTA - The death toll from Typhoon Fung-wong in the Philippines rose to 27 as the storm approached Taiwan.

According to local media reports quoted by Antara via Anadolu on Wednesday, the death toll was reported in 10 provinces, but most of the dead were recorded in the Cordillera Administrative Region, according to local media Inquirer.

Two people were missing while at least 36 others were injured in the affected areas.

On Tuesday 11 November, local authorities said the typhoon had an impact on more than 2.4 million people in 15 regions including Central Luzon, Bangsomoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and West Visayas.

More than 800 thousand people fled to around 11,800 evacuation centers in affected areas.

The storm also damaged roads and bridges, while disruptions in electricity and water supply continued in dozens of cities.

Typhoon Fung-wong, known locally as Typhoon Uwan, left the Philippines Responsibility Region (the Philippines Area of Responsibility/PAR) on Tuesday morning and is now moving towards Taiwan.

The local weather agency stated that the typhoon continued to weaken, but could still bring heavy rains to central and southern Taiwan during the day.

Last week, Typhoon Kalmaegi killed at least 224 people, left 109 people missing, and injured more than 500 people in the Philippines.

The Philippines Responsibility Region (PAR) is an official monitoring area for the Administration of Atmospheric Services, Geophysics, and Philippine Astronomy (PAGASA) to detect, name, and provide early warnings about hurricanes that could impact the Philippines.
