Ten Ewu Ngopi Festival: Thousands Of Seruput Kopi Residents In Kemiren Traditional Village
JAKARTA Thousands of residents spilled over on Jalan Desa Adat Kemiren, Glagah District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, on Saturday (8/11) night. They came from various regions and even abroad to enjoy the Ten Ewu Ngopi Festival, the annual tradition that has been going on since 2014.
The festival, which literally means drinking ten thousand cups of coffee, is one of Banyuwangi's flagship agendas. Not only displaying local coffee flavors, this event is also a forum for strengthening togetherness between residents and tourists.
"This momentum, apart from introducing Banyuwangi coffee which has been widely known abroad, is also a means of strengthening togetherness and brotherhood among residents," said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani.
Ipuk also appreciated Kemiren Village for recently making two international prestigious awards: The 5th ASEAN Homestay Award and The Best Tourism Villages Upgrade Program 2025 from the United Nations Tourism (UN Tourism).
"Local governments always support efforts to protect Banyuwangi culture together," he added.

The head of Kemiren Village, M. Arifin, explained that the continuity of the festival for 12 years could not be separated from the cohesiveness of the residents and the philosophy of the Osing community, namely suguh, gupuh, lunguh suguhan, hospitality, and readiness to welcome guests.
'Ngopi Ten Ewu is a tangible form of these values. Apart from being a means of maintaining culture, this activity also encourages the economic empowerment of citizens," said Arifin.
During the festival, traditional village main roads were transformed into an impromptu row of coffee shops. Residents' home pages turned into coffee shops complete with tables, chairs, leshehans, and various traditional snacks such as kucur, glutinous tape, and fried bananas. All are served with special hospitality from the Osing community.
The Regent of Ipuk seemed to participate in enjoying coffee with residents, mingling without barriers with visitors. The event was also attended by a number of public figures, including the Celebgram Winona Araminta with her family.
