Adrianne Curry Unloads The Dark Side Of Makeover Tyra Banks, His Hair Is Permanently Damaged

JAKARTA - Adrianne Curry, winner of the first season of theAmerica 's Next Top Model event, revealed that the makeover obtained at the event had caused permanent hair damage.

In a video shared on his Instagram account, the 43-year-old explained the long-term impact of the hairstyle changes he made during the competition in 2003.

As is known in every ANTM season, Tyra Banks as the host as well as a former supermodel usually determines a dramatic makeover for each finalist.

The goal is to improve their performance, but this process often leads to tears and participant stress.

In the first season, Tyra decided to wear a WEave on Curry's hair. Weave is a technique of adding natural or synthetic hair by sewing it into the original hair and is usually used in black women's hairstyles. However, according to Curry, this decision actually brings big problems.

In the video, Curry shows the hair around the temples that now look thin and find it difficult to grow again.

"I want to explain why I'm partially bald here and here. My hair in that part is no longer growing," he said, quoted from the People page.

Curry claims the hairclists at the time had actually warned Tyra that Curry's hair was too fragile to be given a weave. But Tyra still ordered the process to be carried out.

Stylish blacks said, 'Rambut this white girl is too fragile for this' and Tyra keeps telling me to continue,' he said.

As a result, during filming, Curry suffered injuries to the removed head and hair. He said the weave was not removed after the event was over.

Curry eventually went to a salon in his hometown of Joliet, Illinois to remove the weaves and barbershops there were shocked to see his condition.

"They took hours to let him go. I ended up having haircuts like a terrible mullet with wounds and coreng scars all over my head's skin," explained Tyra.

Curry admitted that some of his hair never grew back and believed his skin was permanently damaged.

He also added that some of the makeovers at the event felt like a form of mental torture.

Apart from the hair problem, Curry also felt cheated by the promises of the production of the event. He thought the winner of ANTM would get a big contract with Revlon, but the reality was different.

They say every day that the winner will be a big model for Revlon, but that's a lie. If we knew the prize wasn't that big, we wouldn't fight that hard," he explained.

After winning ANTM, Curry appeared on other reality shows such as The Sure Life and My Fair Brady. But now he chooses to leave the world of entertainment and live a quiet life in Montana. Despite this experience, Curry said he was grateful that his modeling career did not last long.

"If I really had a big success at that time, I might have become a different person and not in a good way." he added.
