The Gunners' Reaction On Social Media After Crystal Palace Vs Arsenal Match

JAKARTA - Arsenal kept their hopes of featuring in next season's Europa League alive with a dramatic 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park Wednesday night.

After seeing Nicolas Pepe's first-half goal canceled out by Christian Benteke's header, the match seemed destined to end in stalemate, blowing the Gunners' chances of qualifying for European qualifying for next season.

However, with time running out, Arsenal showed tremendous courage and passion to score two goals in extra time to maintain their winning run.

Martin Odegaard sent a flying cross that went to Gabriel Martinelli at the back post and the striker managed to put the ball into the net. Then, Pepe performed a brilliant individual act. He ran in impressive fashion and released the ball into the bottom corner.

In fact, Arsenal's performance was not very good as Palace proved more threatening in the second half. However, Mikel Arteta's team dug deep and maximized the quality they had.

"The change in momentum is with the things we did really well in that period and then when we stopped doing those things," Arteta assessed his team's second-half performance in response to Palace's improvement after the break as reported by Football London on Friday, May 21.

"We start playing the games we want to play, implementing the plan we want to do, avoiding what they want to do and when you do, you're under control. We had chances and we had dominance in the game."

"When we conceded a goal after losing the ball and committing unnecessary fouls in a very dangerous area we conceded and after that, we lost the game. We started giving the ball away, we didn't look calm in the back, we build and we see uncertainty."

'When it happens, it's a long ball, the second ball, a 50/50 ball and they're much better than us playing on a dead ball."

"So I think, with the change, we got that control back a lot better. We were calmer, we played in the final third without creating many chances, I have to say. But in the end with two great actions, we managed to win the game."

Martinelli and Pepe's late heroics left the Gunners still with a chance of claiming a place in Europe next season, but not in the Europa League as West Ham United's 3-1 win at West Bromwich Albion dashed that hope.

Nevertheless, it was a victory worth celebrating, purely because of the emotions and drama that accompanied it. Here's how Arsenal's players reacted on social media after the dramatic win over Palace.

As outlined above, victory over Palace has kept Arsenal's hopes of sneaking into the final qualifying round of the Europa League alive, but they still need more than one scenario to reach their path.

The Gunners must beat Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and hope Everton and Tottenham Hotspur fail to win.

Everton travels to Manchester City and Spurs against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. If both games end in a win for the home team or a draw, the Gunners will snatch seventh place with a win.

A draw would not be enough for Arsenal under any circumstances as Spurs are ahead on goal difference.
