JAKARTA - The National Police stated that their staff were investigating the burning incident of the Candipuro Police, South Lampung. This exploration is to find the real reason behind the mass reckless action.

So far, there has been a lot of news circulating about the reasons for the arson. However, the most widely heard was due to the dissatisfaction of the masses with the performance of members of the Candipuro Police.

The performance of the members was considered to be not optimal because it was said that many crimes had occurred. Thus, the perpetrators of this arson did not feel safe.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the team from the Resort Police and Regional Police had intervened.

Accurate information was collected to find the real reason behind the incident. "We are still investigating, it is the accumulation of the incidents. So this is still being investigated, it is only information about fraud and others," Ramadhan told reporters, Wednesday, 19 May.

The news about the reason for the burning of the Candipuro Police because of dissatisfaction with the performance was agreed by one of the residents of Beringin Kencana, Wahid. He, who was an eye witness in the incident on May 18, said the perpetrators were disappointed with the many reports of loss or crimes that were not followed up.

"The trigger may be because residents are disappointed because no response after they report, if one or two perpetrators of motorbikes theft, robbery or pillaging that happens frequently in Candipuro is caught, may be the residents will not be like this, but in fact, no one has been arrested," he said.

In line with that, another resident named Adi, said that the Candipuro District area is known for its high crime rate, especially vehicle theft, robbery, and pillaging allegedly committed by individuals from other areas.

"Just in Eid, there was an incident in front of the house, a motorbike was stolen, basically from the fasting month until now the crime rate is still high, if the perpetrators still use sharp weapons they can still be fought, on average they are using a firearm," he said.

In fact, he continued, there was one shophouse that got robbed three times, the last incident was a cigarette salesman who got robbed.

"This is probably what makes the people angry and depressed at the Candipuro Police, there are some photos that they don't wear masks but they can't be arrested," he said.

However, he stated that the residents in Bringin Kencana who were in the vicinity of the Candipuro Police Headquarters on average did not know that there would be an attack and arson at the police station.

"We do not know here, suddenly it was crowded, and there was arson, instead residents in Bringin Kencana participated in extinguishing the fire that burned the police station for fear of spreading to the settlement. In Candipuro there are 14 villages, we in Bringin Kencana really don't know," he said.

On the other hand, the Head of Lampung Police, Inspector General Hendro Sugiatno, revealed that eight suspected provocateurs of the burning of the Candipuro Police, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, have been secured by the police.

"We will find the root of the problem, why they set fire to the police station, now only eight people have been secured from the incident last night," said the Police Chief, Wednesday, May 19. Inspector General Hendro said he would continue to look for the perpetrators of the destruction and arson of the Candipuro Police to account for his actions.

"All criminal acts must have suspects. If they destroy state facilities it is also destroying public facilities, we will look for the police office destroyer. We ask what was the reason for destroying it," he said.
