Russia Bombards Ukraine With 300 Drone-37 Missiles, Targets Energy Facilities To Make Electricity Out
JAKARTA - Russia launched a series of attacks by more than 300 unmanned aircraft (drones) and 37 missiles targeting infrastructure across Ukraine in attacks on Thursday morning.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia's targets were in the kmic region and central Poltava, as well as the northeastern region of Sumy and Kharkiv.
"This dead season, Russia uses every day to attack our energy infrastructure," Zelenskyy said on X.
Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy and electricity facilities for several consecutive winters as the war enters its fourth year.
Initially, Russia focused on electricity, but this year Russia is increasingly targeting gas infrastructure.
Sergii Koretskyi, CEO of state energy company Naftogaz, said there had been six major attacks on gas facilities this month alone. The latest attack hit damaged facilities in several areas, resulting in operations in several areas stalled.
"This has a direct impact on the volume of domestic gas production, which we are forced to fulfill through imports," said Koretskyi, while urging Ukrainians to consume gas efficiently.

Zelenskyy, scheduled to meet President Donald Trump on Friday on a visit to the US, has again submitted a request to increase Ukraine's long-range capabilities.
"(President of Russia Vladimir) Putin has covered his ears on everything the world says, so the only language he can still understand is the language of pressure," he said.
"That's what I will discuss today and tomorrow in Washington," Zelenskyy said.
