Students Who Robbed A Woman At Pasar Minggu Arrested

JAKARTA - The Jagakarsa Metro Police has revealed a robbery case that befell a woman thanks to surveillance cameras or CCTV belonging to residents on Balai Rakyat Street, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

"We have already processed the crime scene then check the CCTV, the Criminal Investigation team immediately carried out the development", said Head of Jagakarsa Police, Kompol Endang Sukmawijaya, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

After carrying out the development, the police arrested the perpetrator with the initials MKA, who is still a 17-year-old student at Kebagusan Besar, Pasar Minggu.

From the results of the investigation, it was found that the MKA had robbed or snatched the victims three times.

The student is known to come from Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, targeted a woman walking with a toddler.

Based on the video that was also circulating on social media and went viral, the perpetrator's robbery was carried out while riding a motorcycle with vehicle number B-3345-SUL on Wednesday, May 12 at around 10:00 WIB.

He took the woman's bag which contained IDR 5.5 million in cash and a cell phone.

"By looking at the target, he immediately reversed direction after which he seized or snatched the bag carried by the victim", said the Police Chief.

From the statement of the perpetrator, the proceeds of the crime were used to treat his friends during the Takbiran night and pay off debts.

The suspect charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code related to theft carries a sentence of up to five years in prison.
