The Deputy Minister Of State Secretary Calls The Police Reform Team Formation Of The President And The Internal Team To Strengthen Each Other

Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Bambang Eko Suhariyanto emphasized that the formation of the National Police Reform Team by President Prabowo Subianto will go hand in hand with the internal team formed by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to strengthen the agenda of police reform.

"The president will still form a reform team so that later the team from the National Police will help. So there is synergy there, and the main thing is the team formed by the President," said Bambang in Jakarta, Friday, as quoted by Antara.

According to him, the reform team is ad hoc with a limited working period. Its members will be filled with figures who are considered to have the capacity in the fields of law, security, and governance.

Bambang added that the team will serve as an independent committee that provides direct strategic recommendations to the President.

The recommendation is expected to be able to strengthen the professionalism, transparency, and accountability of the National Police in carrying out their main duties.

He explained that the team formed by the President and the internal team of the National Police did not run separately, but complement each other.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, also said that the Police Reform Team formed by the President would run in parallel with the Police Reform Transformation Team that had been formed by the National Police Chief.

According to Dasco, the two teams are expected to be able to fill each other in and provide input in order to achieve a more professional Police.

With these two teams, it is believed that the police reform agenda can be carried out thoroughly by involving all elements.

The government is targeting a reform team formed by the President to form immediately after the head of state returns from overseas visits so that his work can be reported in the early semester of 2026.
