BBMKG: M 3.6 Earthquake North Tapanuli Due To The Great Fault Of Sumatra

JAKARTA - The Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region I Medan said the earthquake had a magnitude (M) of 3.6 in North Tapanuli Regency due to the activity of the Great Fault of Sumatra in the Toru segment.

Head of BBMKG Region I Medan Hendro Nugrogo said the earthquake occurred Friday, September 26 at 11.51 WIB.

"By paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow type of earthquake due to the activity of the Great Fault of Sumatra in the Toru segment," he said in Medan, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 1.95 degrees North Latitude (LU) and 99.07 degrees East Longitude (BT) or precisely located on land at a distance of 13 kilometers southeast of North Tapanuli at a depth of 5 kilometers.

Based on reports from the public, he said, the earthquake was felt in the Tarutung area with an intensity scale of II-III MMI (vibrational vibrations felt real in the house. Feels the vibration as if a truck has passed).

However, until now, he continued, there have been no reports of damage to buildings as a result of the earthquake.

From 11.51 WIB to 11.59 WIB, he said, the results of BMKG monitoring showed no aftershocks.
