Psychologists Express Sentences That Can Help Sleep Fast At Night

JAKARTA - Many people experience difficulty sleeping or insomnia at night. This is influenced by many things, one of which is complicated thoughts that often fill the head.

According to a psychologist and author of 10 Days to a Less Defiant Child, Jeffrey Bernstein, Ph.D, complicated thoughts that revolve around the head at night are sleep problems that the patient often experiences. To overcome this, there are simple sentences that can be used.

The sentence is 'this thought can wait'. Sentences with these four words have a tremendous impact, where when spoken to oneself can create boundaries between a person and a wild mind at night.

"Over the years, I have offered a four-word phrase to my counseling clients who woke up in the middle of the night and found them stuck on the overthinking night express train. In most cases, they reported that it was very helpful," Jeffrey said, quoted by Psychology Today, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

The sentence does not need to be completed, denied, or denied by the brain. The sentence only tells your thoughts that are too active to delay thinking about it at night which is rest time and sleep.

There are several reasons these sentences are very effective in facing sleep difficulties. Starting from being easy and short enough to remember, strengthening the ability to pause for a moment, and reducing urgency to trigger anxiety and insomnia.

Apart from saying the sentence, you can also do some things to sleep faster. Such as adjusting your breath well, pulling and throwing it away slowly, then repeating these steps.

You can also imagine a jar of mind to put all your worries into the jar and then close it, and open it again in the morning. Also avoid using your phone or other electronic devices so that you fall asleep at night.
