Young Innovation Collaborates With Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia To Hold An Internship Program To Strengthen Green Jobs Opportunities

JAKARTA - Young Innovation collaborates with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) through an internship program involving three students majoring in Sociology and Anthropology. This collaboration aims to strengthen the role of the younger generation in facing social and environmental challenges, as well as prepare them to enter an increasingly growing era of green jobs.

This internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience by combining academic approaches and field practices. Students not only explore social theory, but also apply this knowledge in real projects that focus on sustainability. Internal activities include social mapping, community behavior observations, and developing green economy-based programs, such as waste management, strengthening the circular economy, and empowering local communities.

As part of the internship program, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Young Innovation held a Green Job Talks Special Session with the theme From Local Action to Regional Impact: Youth Leading Green Jobs and Diplomacy. This event presents Chin Guan Rong, President of the Nearby Natural Unity and Malaysian Greens Universiti Nationality Malaysia, as well as Prana Janin, Head of Partnership and Engagement of Young Innovation Indonesia, as the main resource person.

This discussion highlights how the younger generation can take a strategic role in responding to environmental challenges, creating green jobs, and strengthening diplomacy between countries through real action at the local level.

Green jobs are not just a trend, but a need for the future. Through this program, we want to provide space for students to see how the theories they study can answer environmental issues while creating sustainable job opportunities," said Restu Andini Chairwoman of Young Innovation.

During the program, students will be involved in initiatives carried out by Young Innovations, such as the Green Jobs Academy, community assistance, and social research for the development of empowerment models. This approach not only increases students' understanding of environmental issues, but also opens their insight into career opportunities in the green sector.

Along with Young Innovation, I realized that innovation is not only about technology, but also the courage to think smartly, and share ideas for the common good. This experience taught me to see divorce as an opportunity and continue to contribute to the community. From Inspiration to Transformation This is a slogan that I myself create in accordance with young innovations," said Yana, Malaysian University Student.

Cooperation between Young Innovation and SMEs marks the first step in strengthening the diplomacy of Indonesian youth. With the involvement of students, academics, and practitioners, this initiative is expected to be able to expand understanding of the green transition as well as open up opportunities for new collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community empowerment.

This concrete step shows that Indonesia's cooperation not only moves at the policy level, but also starting from student initiatives and youth organizations that directly come into contact with issues in the field. From local actions, the impact could develop into a wider regional contribution.
