August 18 Designated As Joint Leave For The Commemoration Of The 80th Indonesian Independence Day

JAKARTA - The government has set Monday, August 18, 2025 as a collective leave day to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

The decision was made through a Joint Decree (SKB) of three ministers, namely Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, and Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Rini Widyantini.

The SKB numbered 933 of 2025, Number 1 of 2025, and Number 3 of 2025 is an amendment to the SKB concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2025 which was signed earlier in 2024. This latest copy of the decision was received in Jakarta, Friday, August 8.

In the latest SKB attachment, the composition of the national holiday remains the same as in previous years. However, there is one additional joint leave, namely on August 18, 2025, the day after the ceremony to commemorate the 80th Indonesian Independence Day which falls on Sunday, August 17.

Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro previously conveyed the determination of this joint leave at a press conference at the Indonesian Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, August 1, 2025.

He said this joint leave was given because on the 17 August night there would be a People's Party and the Independence Carnival, so the government assessed that the community needed additional time to celebrate.

"This joint leave is also a gift from the government for the people in welcoming the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia," said Juri as quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, the Jury explained that the determination of this holiday was intended so that people could hold various independence activities, such as competitions, carnivals, and cultural events in their respective environments.

"This momentum is expected to generate a spirit of optimism, togetherness, and community creativity to jointly build a prosperous and advanced nation," he said.
