A Shootout Occurs In Ilaga, The National Army And The National Police Attacked By 3 Papuan Terrorist Groups

JAKARTA - The National Police said there were three Papuan terrorist groups or gun criminal groups (KKB) that were involved in armed clashes with a joint National Army and National Poice (TNI-Polri) team in the Ilaga mountains. The group has a different leader.

"(Arms contact) KKB from the Legakak Telenggen, Larie Mayu, and Mamboan groups", said Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Commissioner Iqbal Al Qudusy told reporters, Friday, May 7.

Apart from that, Iqbal also mentioned that these groups started the attack. They opened fire on the joint TNI-Polri team.

"They deliberately create terror in society", he said.

The Papuan KKB acted again by firing on the joint TNI-Polri team in the Ilaga mountains. Currently, the joint team is hunting down the KKB that spreads terror.

"That was true on Thursday 6 May 2021 at 19.07 p.m. local time, there was a shootout between the TNI-Polri and the Papuan terrorist group in Kimak Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency", said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Commissioner AM Kamal, Thursday, May 6.

In the firefight, there were no casualties from the joint military-police apparatus.

"There were no casualties, all personnel are safe and secure", he said.

After the shootout, some of the community secured themselves to the city of Ilaga for fear of further terror from the KKB.

"From the results of monitoring, there were a number of residents who were afraid while securing themselves to Ilaga City because of fear", he explained.
