Thailand-Kamboja Military Shooting Baku Again Occurs At The Border
JAKARTA - Another shootout took place on the Thailand-Kamboja border between the two countries' militaries on Thursday, July 24.
This clash occurred following instructions from the Thai Army to close borders with Cambodia.
The Thai Army reported clashes with Cambodian military personnel taking place near Ta Muen Temple following an incident involving Cambodian troops on Thursday morning.
According to their statement quoted from TNA-OANA via Antara, Thai special forces on standby at Ta Muen Temple detected the sound of Cambodian unmanned aircraft flying over the temple at around 7:35 am local time. Although not visible to the eyes, the presence of the UAV was clearly heard.
Shortly thereafter, six Cambodian soldiers, including several personnel with rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), were seen approaching a barbed wire fence at a Thai military base.
The Thai army is said to be able to exercise restraint and seek to ease tensions by conveying verbal warnings and inviting negotiations, while maintaining alertness.
However, at around 8:20 a.m., Cambodian troops, from a distance of about 200 meters, opened fire on the area opposite Thailand's operational base east of Ta Muen Temple.

Responding to the escalation that occurred, the Thai Army said it had instructed all relevant units to closely monitor the situation and would update the information regularly.
Meanwhile, a media report, although yet to be confirmed, said two Thai soldiers were injured as a result of an attack by Cambodia.
This escalation follows diplomatic tensions between Thailand and Cambodia as well as two mine explosion incidents in Ubon Ratchathani Province which resulted in several Thai military personnel being seriously injured. One of the victims even lost his leg.
On Wednesday 23 July, the Commander of Region II of the Thai Army Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang ordered the closure of all border points between Thailand and Cambodia starting Thursday.
