Vice President Explains RI Anniversary Ceremony Only In Jakarta: IKN Still Development

SOLO - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka explained that the ceremony to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was centered at the Merdeka Palace because the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan is still in the focus of development.

Gibran emphasized that according to the direction of President Prabowo Subianto through the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was only held in one location, namely Jakarta.

"It has been explained by the Minister of State Secretary, we just follow the direction of the President, and IKN is still focused on development," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 18.

Previously, Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro explained that the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence on August 17, 2025 was held in Jakarta because the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) was still in the process of completing development.

"IKN is currently in the process of completing the construction process, so we are concentrating on completing the IKN construction first," said the jury.

However, he said that in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) there would still be a ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia which was attended by the IKN Authority.

"Efforts at the points of proclamation will be held in Jakarta," he said.

Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi also said that the committee team for the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence had been formed by the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PCO was also part of it.

Meanwhile, the logo and official theme of the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia will, which was originally scheduled for Friday (18/7), be postponed to Sunday (20/7).

Socialization will be carried out by distributing souvenirs or attributes with logo nuances and the official theme of commemorating the 80th Anniversary at the "car free day" activity (motorized vehicle free day) along the MH Thamrin-Sudirman road section, Jakarta, Sunday (20/7).
