Russia Doesn't Care About US President Trump's Teatrical Ultimatum
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said the statement by US President Donald Trump on Monday was an "ultimatum theatrical" for Moscow they didn't care about.
"Trump issued a theatrical ultimatum to the Kremlin. The world is digitizing, anticipating the consequences. Europe is aggressively disappointed. Russia doesn't care," Medvedev wrote in English on social platform X, quoted from TASS July 15.
The reaction of the former Russian president was the first of Moscow officials in response to President Trump's statement.
The US President on Monday announced he would resume sending weapons and military equipment to Ukraine, with the European Union taking part in usual coverage, while coordination of its deliveries was carried out by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
On the same day he threatened Russia with a secondary tariff "100 percent" if it failed to reach an agreement to end Ukraine's war in 50 days.
Speaking with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte in the Oval Room of the White House, President Trump said he was "disappointed" against President Vladimir Putin as the war in Ukraine continues.
"We will apply the secondary tariff if there is no agreement in 50 days. It is very easy, and the rate will be 100 percent, and that's how it is," Trump said, quoted by The National.
"I take advantage of trade for many things. However, trade is also very good to solve war," he said.
Last week, Medvedev said Russia should focus on achieving its goals, including those related to war in Ukraine instead of paying attention to the destabilizing rhetoric of US President Donald Trump.
"America is once again balancing its favorite political choices," he wrote on Telegram, referring to President Trump's statement about Ukraine and his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"How are we going to deal with it?" continued Medvedev.
"The way we have done it. The way our army does it. The way our supreme commander does it. That means not dealing with it in any way," Medvedev explained.
"We need to continue to achieve the objectives of special military operations," he said, adding: "Reclaim our land and work for victory."
