Ukrainian Drone Attack Damaged Houses, Buildings And Injured 17 People In Russian Territory

JAKARTA - At least 17 people were injured as a result of a Ukrainian drone strike into Russia's Lipetsk and Voronezh regions, destroying houses and other buildings, the local governor said on Tuesday.

Russian air defense units destroyed 12 drones in the Voronezh region, which borders Ukraine, Governor Alexander Gusev said via messaging app Telegram.

Tens of people, including a teenager, were injured in the attack, he said.

The residential buildings in Voronezh City and its surroundings are damaged, as well as commercial facilities throughout the region, Governor Gusev continued.

In Yelets City, the Lipetsk region, a drone crashed in an industrial area, injuring one person, regional governor Igor Artamonov said via Telegram.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense said via Telegram its unit destroyed 55 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft overnight in five regions of Russia and the Black Sea, including three in the Lipetsk region.

There has been no immediate comment from Ukraine regarding the attack.

It is known that both sides have denied targeting civilians to attack each other during the Russia-Ukraine war that broke out in February 2022.

However, thousands of civilians have been killed or injured on both sides as a result of the war that has not shown any signs of ending.

Ukraine itself has launched several airstrikes in Lipetsk, a strategically important region with air bases that are the main training centers for Russian Aerospace Forces.
