Mass Blocked Instagram Users, AI Accused Of Causes

JAKARTA A number of Instagram users have complained about their account problems in recent weeks. Not a few have admitted that their accounts were blocked or suspended for inappropriate reasons.

Reporting from TechCrunch, these various complaints are widely seen on the X and Reddit platforms. Instagram users say that their account is blocked by Meta, the company that oversees Instagram, because it violates platform regulations.

Many users file an appeal, especially users who feel they have done nothing wrong, so that their accounts can be reviewed. Some managed to get their account back, but others admitted that they had not responded.

"I've submitted several applications, uploaded my ID, and tried to contact Meta through all official channels, but I was completely ignored. It felt like I was screaming into the void," wrote one user on Reddit.

Various complaints regarding the wave of blocking and suspension of this account can be seen in the top post of the Reddit Instagram community. Meanwhile, Instagram accounts on X are also often commented on by users regarding this blocking issue.

No one knows for sure the cause, plus Meta has not provided any statement to date. Regarding this issue, more than 4,000 people have signed a change.org petition regarding the blocking incorrectly.

Although there is no confirmation regarding the cause of the problem, not a few suspect that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the source of the problem. The reason is, Pinterest had experienced a similar case earlier this year.

The digital moodboard platform is also facing cases of mass blocking. Users also complain about the same thing, namely that their accounts are blocked without violating platform policies. This problem arose after Pinterest focused on AI technology, but the company denied that AI was the cause.
