Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Absent At Indonesia Open 2025

JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is confirmed to be absent at the Singapore Open and Indonesia Open 2025 because preparations have not been maximized.

This was confirmed by the Head of the Development and Achievement Division of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), Eng Hian, in an official statement received on Friday, May 16, 2025.

"Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was withdrawn from Singapore Open and the Indonesia Open 2025. This is due to the preparation of Jorji (Murchia's nickname) who has not been maximal after recovering from vertigo," he said.

Gregoria, who won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, had to miss a number of important tournaments due to severe vertigo since the end of March 2025.

One of the tournaments that was passed by the 2017 junior world champion was the 2025 Sudirman Cup, where Indonesia's journey at that time stopped in the semifinals.

Apart from Gregoria, Daniel Martin is also certain not to be able to play in Singapore and Indonesia. Daniel suffered a bone injury prone to his left knee while defending Indonesia in the 2025 Sudirman Cup.

"It will take 1-3 months for healing and strengthening so that the Fikri/Daniel pair will also be drawn from two tournaments in Southeast Asia, Singapore and Indonesia," said Eng Hian.

The Singapore Open 2025 will take place from 27 May to 1 June 2025. The Super 750 level event will be held by the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The Indonesia Open 2025 will take place in the following week, on June 3-8, 2025. This Super 1000 BWF level tournament will be held at Istora Senayan.
