Today's Weather, BMKG: Cloudy Jakarta And Thunderstorms
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light rain will occur in most of the capital cities of Indonesia on Wednesday, April 30.
BMKG forecaster, Sekar Anggraeni said that starting from Sumatra Island, the weather is predicted to be thick cloudy in the Banda Aceh area.
"The cities of Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, and Tanjung Pinang are forecasted for light rain," Sekar said as quoted by Antara.
Still in the Sumatra region, Bandarlampung and Palembang cities are forecasted for light rain, while people in the Jambi, Bengkulu, and Pangkal Pinang areas are asked to be aware of rain that can be accompanied by lightning.
Turning to Java, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in the Yogyakarta area. "In general, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya are forecasted to be thick cloudy," he said.
Moving to the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Mataram City and light rain in Denpasar City.
"Be aware of rain that can be accompanied by lightning in Kupang City," said Sekar.
Furthermore, shifting to Kalimantan Island, the weather is generally forecasted for light rain, starting from Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, Palangka Raya to Banjarmasin.
Then, for Sulawesi Island, there is the potential for thick cloudyness in Makassar City, and light rain in Mamuju, Palu, Gorontalo, and Manado areas.
"For Kendari areas, there is the potential for rain with moderate intensity," he said.

Moving to eastern Indonesia, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy in the Ambon area, while the cities of Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, and Nabire are forecasted to rain with light intensity. For Jayapura and Merauke cities, moderate intensity is forecasted to rain.
"Be aware of rain that can be accompanied by lightning in Jayawijaya City," he said.
The public is also asked to be aware of the potential for tidal flooding that could occur on the North Sumatra Waters Coast, Riau Islands, Lampung, Jakarta, South Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, and Maluku.
