2 Dozens Of Teenagers Become Suspects Of Abuse Of Explosives In Sewon Bantul
JAKARTA - The police have arrested two suspects in the case of misuse of explosives in the Sewon District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).
"The arrest of the suspect began after members of the Intelligence and Security Unit of the Sewon Police received information from residents that there would be a sale of explosives or firecracker powder in front of SMAN 1 Sewon," said Sewon Sector Police Chief (Kapolsek) Kompol Sultonudin at a press conference at the Bantul Police Headquarters, Monday, December 24, confiscated by Antara.
The two suspects who were arrested by the police on March 18, 2025 are the initials NAN, a 19-year-old man whose address is Godean, Sleman Regency, DIY, and the initials RNA, an 18-year-old man with the address Godean, Sleman Regency.
He said that from the suspect, officers confiscated a motorcycle with a number of motorcycles installed with AB-6340-ZL without STNK, a sieve or a sieve made of blue plastic, one digital scale was damaged, 87 firecrackers or firecrackers made of paper.
Then silver powder that is flammable weighing 3.3 kilograms, two cardboard boxes used to purchase chemicals from online stores, two silver plastic spoons, two used pieces of paper where they put chemicals, a cardboard box where they put firecrackers or firecrackers, and two cellphones.
The police chief said that the disclosure of the case began when on Tuesday (18/3) at 14.00 WIB, the Intelligence and Security Unit of the Sewon Police received information from informants that there would be a sale of explosives or firecracker powder in front of SMAN 1 Sewon.

Furthermore, members carried out patrols and investigations at the place, which then at 17.00 WIB found two men riding on motorbikes stopping in front of SMA Negeri 1 Sewon.
Because the two men were suspicious, then the members came and checked, after that the Intelkam Unit members found silver powder material that was flammable or firecracker powder in the bag that the two people were carrying.
"Furthermore, the two people were secured and taken to the Sewon Police and handed over to the Sewon Police Criminal Investigation Unit for further investigation," he said.
After making a police report, the Sewon Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a crime scene (TKP) at the house of NAN in the Sidokerto area, Godean, Sleman, from the results of the investigation obtained evidence of equipment for making explosives or firecracker powder.
"From the results of the initial interrogation, the alleged perpetrator admitted that he had made the explosives or firecracker powder," he said.
According to him, the perpetrator is suspected of violating Article 1 paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 which regulates criminal sanctions for people who without the right to enter Indonesia make, accept, try, obtain, hand over or try to hand over, control, carry, have supplies to him or have in his property, store, transport, hide, use, or remove from Indonesia any firearm, ammunition or something explosives.
For this incident, the police also appealed to parents or religious leaders, community leaders to supervise children's activities more, especially in this month of Ramadan.
