Anticipating Traffic Increases During Homecoming, Telkom Indonesia Increases Network Capacity To 58.4 Tbps
JAKARTA - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or Telkom projects a surge in broadband traffic to 20.35 Tbps during the moments of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr (RAFI) 2025/1446H. This figure has increased by 28 percent from normal conditions.
President Director of Telkom Ririek Adriansyah said to anticipate the surge in broadband traffic, TelkomGroup increased network capacity to 58.4 Tbps.
"Our anticipation is that there is a traffic growth of approximately 28 percent and it will increase to around 20 tera. Now the capacity we prepare later is in 58 tera, or an increase of 11 percent, of which it has more than doubled," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, March 19.
Ririek explained that the increase in network capacity could not be separated from this year's Eid condition which was different from the previous year. Because, the appeal for implementing work from anywhere (WFA), especially for government employees and BUMN.
With this appeal, continued Ririek, the holiday period will be longer and the need for the internet will increase. Moreover, currently Telkom has a large customer base.
The details are Telkomsel with 158.4 million subscribers, Indihome 9.69 million customers, then 590,000 MSME customers, 2,300 corporate customers, and 700 government customers.
"That is something we need to prepare, because with this WFA we anticipate a lot of occurrence or the need for people to make video conferencing, for workers through Zoom and so on," he said.
In order to improve the customer's best experience, continued Ririek, TelkomGroup has prepared infrastructure and IT Tools, including the readiness of international traffic routes through Batam and Manado gateways with 14 Telkom submarine cable infrastructures operating in a redundant manner.
In addition, TelkomGroup has also mapped and secured telecommunications infrastructure and services at 476 Poi (Point of Interest) or crowded points covering tourist areas and shopping centers, public transportation including airports, ports, and stations, homecoming routes including rest areas and gas stations, housing, and facilities for houses of worship.

Then, TelkomGroup strengthened more than 234,000 BTS 4G and 5G Telkomsel. In the RAFI 2025 period, TelkomGroup customers can enjoy 5G services in 56 cities throughout Indonesia.
Ririek said the company also provided 57 posts with 480 postal personnel on duty 24 hours from March 26 to April 8, 2025 and involved 9,000 field technicians who were TelkomGroup's integrated collaboration throughout Indonesia.
"We want to provide the best service, facilitate customers and the wider community, to be able to use our services properly, wherever they are, during activities related to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr," he said.
