Etana Supports Innovation Of Kidney Disease Treatment In Indonesia

JAKARTA - In commemoration of World Kidney Day, Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia (Etana) affirms its commitment to supporting innovation in the treatment of kidney disease in Indonesia. As a biotechnology company, Etana plays an active role in providing quality and affordable medicines for patients, especially kidney patients in Indonesia.

Business Development Therapeutic Director of Etana Randy Stevian explained, one of the company's main focuses is increasing access to quality medicines, one of which is widely used for dialysis patients, namely Erythropoietin Alfa.

"Currently Etana has produced local high-quality Erythropoietin Alfa at affordable prices. In the future, we will present more products related to kidney health, which are produced locally," said Randy in a written statement in Jakarta, Friday, March 14.

Furthermore, Etana is also developing the latest generation of drugs, namely Long-acting Erythropoietin, which only need to be injected once in a week or two, so that it is more comfortable for patients.

To increase access to treatment for kidney patients, continued Randy, Etana cooperates with the government to provide medicine in e-catalog, so that it can be accessed by BPJS patients through the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. Etana also maintains partnerships with health organizations and the community of patients such as the Indonesian Blood Laundering Patient Community (KPCDI) to educate and support patients in getting better access to treatment.

"We routinely work together with KPCDI to educate kidney patients. So the hope is that our strategy will strengthen the portfolio of drugs needed by kidney patients," Randy explained.

KPCDI chairman Tony Samosir revealed that the biggest challenge for kidney failure patients in Indonesia is not only in terms of treatment, but also access to essential medicines. According to him, there are still many patients who have difficulty getting drugs such as Erythropoietin and calcium phosphate supplements that are very important to maintain their quality of life.

"Therefore, collaboration with industries such as Etana is very important to increase the availability of these drugs. Together with Etana, KPCDI also often holds activities in the form of health education, how promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative, we also discuss there," said Tony.

Tony hopes that the government will be more serious in improving the accessibility of drugs and health services for kidney failure patients. "Hopefully the government will have to make policies that are in favor of patients for the better quality of life and health services," Tony concluded.

Etana plans to expand its treatment portfolio to support kidney patients while strengthening health education to the wider community. With the spirit of innovation and collaboration, Etana is committed to continuing to support innovation in the treatment of kidney disease in Indonesia.
