Pramono Anung Receives MURI Record For Most Cat Sterilization
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung received the record for most cat sterilization social services from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI).
The MURI record submission was attended by the Cat Lovers community and Member of Commission C of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Hardiyanto Kenneth.
"We feel the honor, let alone the presence of Cat Lovers, including Mr. Keneth, Mr. Doni. They want to present to the Jakarta government the MURI record," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, March 13.
Every year, the DKI Provincial Government has implemented a massive cat sterilization program. Since early January 2025 until now, the DKI Provincial Government has sterilized around a thousand cats.
"Indeed, in 2025, the Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting 21 thousand sterilizations for cat men," said Pramono.
Pramono admitted that he had also sterilized cats before becoming governor of DKI.

According to him, Jakarta's title as a rabies-free city must be maintained. On the one hand, Jakarta must also be a city that is friendly to animals. Thus, sterilizing cats is an important thing to do.
"Anyway, we will arrange that cats in Jakarta can easily live well because not everyone can accept it. In some places people are very allergic to stray cats and that shouldn't happen, then the population must also be limited," Pramono explained.
Sementara itu, salah satu initiator penjuang rekor MURI atas sterilisasi kucing terbanyak, Sonny Kastara Dhaniswara berharap rekor MURI menjadi pemecu Pemprov DKI untuk lebih banyak melakukan sterilisasi kucing di Jakarta.
"Hopefully this is the beginning or the gateway of the cat ecosystem that is even more proud for us, especially in Jakarta," said Sonny.
