Minister Of Environment Reminds Truck Sanctions Not Passing Emission Test, Fines Charged To Vehicle Owners
JAKARTA - Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurrofiq emphasized that sanctions on vehicles that do not pass the emission test are not only imposed on private vehicles, but also heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, cooperating vehicles, and diesel or diesel fuel vehicles.
Hanif emphasized that emission tests are important because the emissions of large vehicles with categories N and O are one of the largest contributors to air pollution from the transportation sector.
"We are discussing to ensure that law enforcement can be applied according to existing regulations. However, the fine is not addressed to the driver, but to the owner of the vehicle. This must also be done carefully so as not to interfere with the supply chain," said Hanif during a heavy vehicle emission test activity in Marunda, North Jakarta, Tuesday, March 11.
Hanif said that his party was discussing with the Ministry of Transportation and the Police regarding law enforcement regarding the application of Article 210 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.
The article stipulates that every motorized vehicle operating on the road must meet the exhaust emission threshold. Therefore, it is necessary to collaborate with various parties to anticipate a decrease in air quality in Jabodetabek.
"We will work together to develop a more detailed and systematic plan. Of course, we will continue to carry out this emission test in a sustainable manner, from area to other areas," said Hanif.
In addition, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that the emission test will continue to be expanded, especially in heavy duty vehicles, whose impact is felt on air quality.
"We will continue to maximize emission tests to all vehicles, especially those that have a significant impact. This heavy vehicle must be a priority," explained Asep.

The DKI Provincial Government, continued Asep, is also coordinating with Polda Metro Jaya to include emission tests as part of the implementation of the ticket through the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system.
"Currently, we are integrating an emission test system that we call the Blue Eagle Jaya with an electronic ticketing system (ETLE). This is an important step so that all traffic violations, including those related to emission tests, can be dealt with firmly through ETLE," he added.
