KAI Provides 4.5 Million Tickets During The 2025 Eid Holiday

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) provides a total of 4,591,510 seats during the period March 21 to April 11, to support the smooth 2025/Idulfitri Eid Transport 1446 H.

"This seating provision is part of our efforts to support community mobility during Eid while still prioritizing the principles of safety, timeliness and comfort," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo as quoted from an official statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 9.

Furthermore, he said, of this number, 2,752,310 seats or 59.94 percent were economic class trains with more affordable rates.

"Of the total available economic class seating capacity, 1,633,720 seats are allocated to commercial economic trains, while the other 1,118,590 are subsidized economic trains or those that receive public service obligation (PSO) from the government," said Didiek.

In addition to economic class trains, as many as 1,839,200 other seats are provided for executive class train services, businesses, commercial local trains, Feeder Trains, and Pioneer Trains which are also the main choices of the community in mobility.

As part of KAI's commitment to realizing sustainable transportation and improving the quality of people's lives, economic class train services can still be accessed at affordable prices.

"We understand that people need transportation modes that are not only comfortable and safe, but also economical. Therefore, more than half of the capacity we provide is an economic class train with more affordable rates," said Didiek.

Furthermore, Didiek explained that during the Eid Transport period, KAI operated 9,572 train trips for 22 days. A total of 8,492 trips are regular trains while 1,080 trips are additional trains.

"With a larger capacity, KAI hopes to provide more travel options for people who want to go home. In addition, the presence of KA also helps reduce congestion on the highway due to the high use of private vehicles, so that the trip becomes smoother," said Didiek.

As of March 8, 2025 at 07.00 WIB, KAI noted that long-distance train tickets that had been sold reached 1,716,005 tickets or 49.83 percent of the total available capacity. Meanwhile, local train tickets sold reached 28,089 tickets or around 2.45 percent.

Local Train sales rates are still relatively low as most new services can be ordered on D-30. There are even some new services that can be ordered D-7 before departure, "explained Didiek.
