Arsenal Makes A Meeting Against PSV To Achieve Different Levels Despite Injuries

JAKARTA - Mikel Arteta emphasized that Arsenal still have equipment to bring the game to a different level despite being hit by an injury crisis.

Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at the Philips Stadium on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, to seek improvement after trailing 13 points from Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal have failed to score in their last two league games, against West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

They will return to face matches with very weak front lines without Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli with injuries.

This is the first time Arsenal have failed to score in two consecutive league games since May 2023.

However, Mikel Arteta emphasized that his troops did not lose confidence

"We're trying to explain how we're going to do it and why we're doing something. They're trying to convey it in the best possible way."

"In the last two results, it's very different in terms of performance as well. Not getting the results we want."

"But, of course, it's better, especially in the last game. The fact that we still have the spirit, even with the players we have, some of the other enthusiasm to take the game to different levels."

"When it comes to that stage, it's about increasing levels and standards. Every individual must be at its best."

"When we did it, with the team we had and the relationship between us, we were a very strong team," said Arteta.

Jurrien Timber believes that the match against PSV is an opportunity to change Arsenal's season momentum.

"Yes, I think the motivation is there. It's an amazing tournament to play."

"I think we also showed in the group stage that we played very well and we had a good team."

"Tomorrow is a beautiful game to change the narrative and win. We have to score tomorrow."

"We have to win. In the Champions League, you only have two games so you don't get a second chance so we have to do it in this game," Timber said.
