Calvin Bassey Experiences Racist Harassment After Manchester United Vs Fulham Match In FA Cup
JAKARTA - Fulham condemned the racist and homophobic abuse experienced by defender Calvin Bassey online after he scored in a FA Cup win over Manchester United on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Bassey gave his side the lead before halftime in the game which ended 1-1 at Old Trafford, before Fulham beat the hosts on penalties to qualify for the FA Cup quarter-finals.
"The Fulham Football Club was really surprised by the racist and homophobic abuse received and then shared by Calvin Bassey on social media after the FA Cup match against Manchester United," Fulham said in a statement on Monday, March 3, 2025.
"We strongly condemn this disgusting behavior that has no place in football or society."

"Such action is completely unacceptable. We fully support Calvin Bassey, who will continue to receive our full support."
"We will do everything in our power to cooperate with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators of these heinous messages and taking as much action against them as possible," Fulham wrote again.
Kyle Walker of Manchester City also faced racist abuse online after they lost to Juventus in the Champions League in December 2024.
Last month, Manchester City striker Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw missed the game for mental health reasons after facing racist abuse following Arsenal's defeat in the Women's Super League.
"Fulham Football Club is committed to maintaining a firm stance on all forms of discrimination and remains dedicated to growing a respectful and inclusive environment," Fulham added.
Fulham will host Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter-finals on March 29, 2025.
