Sergio Conceicao Starts Frustration, Sincerely To Withdraw From Milan

JAKARTA - AC Milan's hopes of entering the top four of Serie A were hit hard when they lost 1-2 to Bologna on Friday, February 28, 2025, early in the morning WIB, after the hosts came back from one goal behind.

The Rossoneri are in eighth position in the standings with 41 points, eight points behind Juventus in fourth place with 12 games remaining.

Bologna are in sixth place with 44 points. The top four teams qualify for next season's Champions League.

This is the first time in nearly 23 years Bologna have won a home game against AC Milan in Serie A. The match was originally scheduled for October 2024, but was canceled due to flooding.

Milan's season is on the verge of collapse after being knocked out of the Champions League and two consecutive Serie A defeats.

Their hopes of winning tickets to the Champions League next season are running low. No wonder AC Milan's manager, Sergio Conceicao, looks frustrated and willing to step down.

"Everything is in our hands. If the club feels I am no longer the right person for Milan, I will step down."

"However, until then, I will continue to work with the same spirit as before," said Sergio Conceicao after the match against Bologna.

"I feel very frustrated because the result never came. However, I think it's natural for a coach to work passionately."

"It looks like there are dark clouds in Milan that we have to get rid of with results because that's what makes the difference," he said again.

Two minutes before halftime, Rafael Leao took advantage of a pass past his bodyguard and outwit Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski to put Milan ahead.

Bologna equalized three minutes after the second half started when a free-kick into the penalty box was directed at Santiago Castro who finished from close range.

Milan protested, claiming the ball bounced off Giovanni Fabbian's arm before reaching Castro, but VAR authorized the goal.

Yunus Musah almost put Milan ahead again after an hour of the match, but Skorupski made a crucial save.

Bologna gradually took control of the match as Milan's defense seemed to lose focus. Nicolo Casale's header hit the post.

A 2-1 change in position occurred nine minutes towards the end of the match when Nicolo Cambiaghi reached the line and sent in a cross which was met by Dan Ndoye with a quick and targeted move.
