Germany Open 2025: Rehan/Gloria Wins Civil War

JAKARTA - Mixed doubles pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja managed to qualify for the second round of the German Open 2025 after winning in the civil war.

The couple secured a ticket to the second half after defeating their compatriot, Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, two straight games 21-13 and 21-18 on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, WIB night.

"Meeting friends is always not easy, especially me, Gloria, Adnan, and Indah used to practice together."

"So, we already know what the strengths and weaknesses are," said Rehan after the match.

Rehan/Gloria will then face the fourth seed from Denmark, namely the Mads Vestergaard/Christine Busch pair.

Mads/Christine secure tickets for the second half after winning against Spanish mixed doubles pair Ruben Garcia/Lucia Rodriguez, two straight games, 21-19 and 21-16.

Rehan hopes that he and Gloria can consistently put out their best performance after their 2025 Thailand Masters ran aground in the second half.

"We want every game to be able to bring out the best and maximum. An assessment of how we have performed so far, let others judge," he said.

Rehan/Gloria are the second representatives of Indonesia to reach the second half in Germany. They followed the steps of the women's doubles pair Rachellessya Rose/Maya Trias Puspitasari.

Rachel/Trias have secured tickets on the first day of the tournament which took place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The couple repatriated the couple from China Taipei, Nicole Gonzales Chan/Lin Chih Chun.

Unfortunately, the pair's second step failed to be followed by mixed doubles Marwan Faza/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata and Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.
