The 2025 President's Cup Will Present Foreign Clubs Where Diaspora Is Restricted
JAKARTA - The 2025 President's Cup is rumored to use a different concept by presenting a foreign club that is the place where Indonesian national team players play. Regarding the news, the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir, spoke up.
PSSI does plan to carry a different concept for the 2025 President's Cup which will roll out in July 2025. Regarding this concept, Erick Thohir explained that this was an effort to build a better Indonesian football ecosystem.
Not only that, the plan to include foreign clubs filled with Indonesian national team players is also one way to appreciate the clubs concerned. This is also so that the flight hours of Garuda Squad players are even more.
"We are trying to build an ecosystem and appreciate that with so many of our players playing outside," said Erick Thohir in his statement in Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
"Of course also hope that our players are not just used for commercialization to increase social media or awareness."

"We also hope that our players who play in clubs really play or at least become the choice to play," he said.
In addition, involving foreign clubs during the 2025 Presidential Cup is also expected to attract interest so that they invest in Indonesian clubs.
"This is our initiative. We have to give awards to clubs that give Indonesian players the opportunity to play. In fact, these clubs can have a sister club in Indonesia," he said.
"So we want to bridge the commitment of these clubs with value-values from this country."
"So, we want to build the ecosystem again. We want the clubs that have our players to be part of the development of Indonesian football," said Erick again.
So far, it is known that there are indeed many Indonesian national team players who have careers abroad.
They are Jay Idzes who plays at Venezia, Kevin Diks who will be in Borussia Monchengladbach next season, Ragnar Oratmangoen at FCV Dender, Sandy Walsh with Yokohama Marinos, to Marselino Ferdinand and Ole Romeny at Oxford United.
