Bejo Sugiantoro's Body Buried At TPU Geluran, Bonek And Former Persebaya Players Accompany Funeral

JAKARTA - The body of the legend of Persebaya Surabaya, the Indonesian national team, who is also the head coach of Deltras FC, Bejo Sugiantoro, was buried at the Geluran Public Cemetery (TPU), Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, morning WIB.

Prior to that, Bejo's body was prayed at the Nurul Jannah Mosque in Pondok Jati, Geluran, Sidoarjo.

Hundreds of supporters of Persebaya Surabaya, known as Bonek and several former Bajul Ijo players, accompanied the legend's funeral.

"I was surprised to hear that Bejo died. The last time we still had time to play football together at Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT) some time ago," said former Persebaya player, Uston Nawawi, as reported by Antara.

Apart from Uston Nawawi, several former Persebaya players who were seen attending Bejo's funeral included Mat Halil, Mustaqim, and Kurnia Sandy.

Meanwhile, one of Bonek's frontmen, Agus Tessy, stated that Bejo was already considered the father of Persebaya supporters because he had a very close relationship.

He admitted that he and the Boneks really lost the figure of the father in Bejo.

"Abah Bejo is very kind and cares about Bonek and Bonita (Women's Bonek). So, we really lost it," said Agus Tessy.

Previously, Bejo Sugiantoro was unconscious at SIER Surabaya Football Field while playing fun football with his colleagues on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, afternoon WIB.

The deceased's colleagues and the health team PT SIER immediately provided first aid and took Bejo to the Royal Hospital in Surabaya for further medical treatment.

Despite having received maximum medical efforts from the hospital, Bejo Sugiantoro was declared dead of a heart attack.
