Responding To Pertamina's Corruption, Prabowo: We Will Clean Up
JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto also voiced his voice over corruption in crude oil governance and refinery products at PT Pertamina, subholding and contractor cooperation contracts in the 2018-2023 period involving the directors of this state-owned subsidiary.
Prabowo ensured that the corruption case handled by the Attorney General's Office was being handled by the authorities. As head of state, Praabowo also confirmed that he would solve the corruption case within Pertamina.
"Everything is being taken care of, yes. Everything is being taken care of. Okay, we will clean it up, we will enforce it. We will defend the interests of the people," Prabowo said briefly to the media crew that they had to inaugurate the Pegadaian and BSI Gold Bank Services, Wednesday, February 26.
Previously, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) named seven suspects in the alleged corruption case of crude oil governance and refinery products at PT Pertamina, Subholding, and Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) for the period 2018-2023. This corruption is suspected to have cost the state up to Rp193.7 trillion.
The Director of Investigation (Dirdik) of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO, Abdul Qohar, revealed that the suspects consisted of four high-ranking subsidiaries of PT Pertamina and three private parties.

The losses, continued Qohar, came from various factors, such as losses in domestic crude exports, losses in imports of crude oil through intermediaries (brokers), losses on imports of fuel oil (BBM) through brokers, as well as losses due to inappropriate compensation and subsidies.
The suspects are suspected of engineering domestic oil production so that it looks reduced and has no economic value, so imports are an unavoidable choice.
