Aldila Sutjiadi Returns To The Field After Recovering

JAKARTA - Tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi will return to the field for the first time after recovering from illness by playing in the ITF W35 Arcade, California, United States.

Aldila underwent a warm-up tournament for WTA 1000 Indian Wells and the Miami Open in the women's doubles sector in collaboration with compatriot Janice Tjen.

"There is no specific target because I made this a warm-up for Indian Wells," said the tennis player who won the 2018 Asian Games gold medal in the mixed doubles.

Aldila and Janice had previously paired up at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, which was postponed by a year. At that time they managed to bring home a bronze medal.

Aldila/Janice, who are in second place, will face the United States pair, Alyssa Ahn/Danielle Wilson, in the first round which will take place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, local time or Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

The 29-year-old previously experienced sudden hearing loss which forced him to undergo treatment at the end of last year.

The health problem forced him to miss the tournament at the start of the season this year, including the opening Grand Slam season for the Australian Open 2025.

Aldila ended the 2024 season early due to injury in the wrist area. The Chinese tour was stopped at Ningbo Open at the end of October 2024 and he was unable to proceed to Guangzhou Open as planned.

Aldila plans to take part in WTA 1000 Indian Wells on March 5-16, 2025 and will resume with the Miami Open on March 22-April 3, 2025.

The tennis player who is currently ranked 43rd in the WTA doubles will partner with Hungarian tennis player Fanny Stollar at Indian Wells.
