PSSI Targets Indonesia U-17 To Qualify For The 2025 U-17 World Cup In Qatar
JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir is targeting the U-17 Indonesian national team to qualify for the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
He did not want the opportunity to play in the U-17 World Cup to disappear after the U-20 Indonesian national team failed to reach the 2025 U-20 World Cup.
The 2025 U-17 World Cup will take place from 5-27 November 2025. To be able to survive at the 2025 U-17 World Cup, Indonesia U-17 must occupy the position of champion and runner-up for the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup group.
"Indeed, many parties are disappointed with us not being included in the 2025 U-20 World Cup, but actually we have tried our best. However, the results are not yet available," said Erick Thohir during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
"Does it lower our willingness to enter the U-17 World Cup? No. We certainly have to remain aggressive, we have to try to achieve the 2025 U-17 World Cup target," he said.
Regarding the target installed, the chairman of PSSI also said that he had conveyed this to the coach of the U-17 Indonesian national team, Nova Arianto.

However, he hopes that this target will not become a burden for the U-17 Indonesian national team.
"I've called coach Nova. We've been serious, have done this, but don't put this under pressure. We have to do our best, we have to achieve the existing targets," he said.
The U-17 Indonesian national team will appear in the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, 3-20 April 2025. In the tournament, Indonesia U-17 joined in Group C with South Korea, Yemen, and Afghanistan.
