PGN Group Wins 10 PROPER Awards 2024, Proof Of Commitment To Sustainability

JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) and its subsidiaries have again recorded achievements in the 2024 PROPER Environmental Award event.

PGN Group won 10 awards, consisting of 4 Gold PROPERs and 5 Green PROPERs, as a form of appreciation for the company's efforts to run environmental and social sustainability programs. In addition, PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development, Rosa Permata Sari, also received the Green Leadership Madya award for his leadership in encouraging the implementation of the principles of sustainability and ESG.

This award was given by the Ministry of Environment (KLH) to PGN for its commitment to preserving the environment more than required by regulations, as well as its contribution in carrying out social sustainability programs that have a positive impact on the community.

The Minister of Environment (LH), Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, is grateful to all companies that have innovated and implemented green leadership.

"PROPER is also used in making decisions, the basis for management assessments, green taxonomy for the company's operations, CEOs and Founders on the strict basis of the company's performance. Thank you to those with good intentions, the main character of environmental structuring," he said, Monday, February 24.

PGN Group won the Golden PROPER for PGN Pagardewa Station, Pertagas Operation South Sumatra Area (OSSA), Pertagas Operation West Java Area (OWJA), and Pertagas Operation Kalimantan Area (OKA). Meanwhile, PGN Cimanggis Station, PGN Panaran Station, PGN SOR III, Pertagas Operation East Java Area (OJA), and PGN SAKA Indonesia Pangkah Limited won the Green PROPER.

PGN President Director, Arief Setiawan Handoko, expressed his appreciation for this achievement.

This award is the result of the hard work of the entire PGN Group team in implementing various programs that not only have an impact on the community, but also contribute to environmental sustainability. We also thank the fostered partners and all those who have supported this effort," said Arief.

One of PGN's flagship programs that will receive the Golden PROPER is Pesona Tani Dewa (Sustainable, Optimal, and Adaptive Farmers of Pagardewa), which was developed in Pagardewa Village, Muara Enim, South Sumatra. This program is here as a solution to the low income of rubber farmers, declining plantation productivity and the threat of land fires.

Through this initiative, PGN supports the development of Lake Kemiri ecotourism, which helps increase local people's income. In addition, the company also invites people to hone their business skills with bee farming, fish, watermelon, and chili businesses to diversify farmers' economic resources.

Not only that, PGN also encourages replanting rubber, utilizing organic fertilizers, and mitigating forest fires through the Alert Farmers program. As a result, rubber plantations in Pagardewa are able to absorb up to 4.56 tons of carbon per hectare per year, which strengthens PGN's commitment to supporting decarbonization.

Arief emphasized that PGN Group will continue to increase innovation in environmental management.

"As a Gas Subholding, we will strengthen social and environmental responsibilities, so that we can contribute more to protecting the earth and making people prosperous," he concluded.
