Erick Thohir's Subordinates Of SOEs Ensure That Community Savings Are Not Used As Danantara Capital

JAKARTA - There are many calls for withdrawing funds from the Association of State Banks (Himbara) ahead of the launch of the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara). Because people are worried that their savings will be used as capital for the institution.

For your information, Danantara will oversee at least seven jumbo SOEs. Three of them are Himbara, namely PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI, and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI.

Responding to this, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Putri Violla ensured that public savings would not be used as Danantara capital.

"So far, no (community savings are not used for Danantara's capital)," said Putri when met at the Ministry of SOEs Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 25.

Putri said the Ministry of SOEs had gathered company secretaries in the Association of State Banks (Himbara). The goal is to explore the issue of the invitation to withdraw funds from state-owned banks.

"Yesterday, the Ministry of SOEs spoke with all the Corsec (Corporate Secretary) from Himbara on Saturday, February 22, 2025, we then sorted out what the problem was like, what the community felt," he said.

Putri is aware of the public's concern about the public's savings money being used by the Danantara. This includes the supervision and management of funds in the Danantara in the future.

"Indeed, there is fear among the community, because the examination will be carried out later, there is a guarantee that no later our money can be managed properly there, maybe then it will disappear and reflect on the case that occurred in Malaysia," he explained.

Previously, it was reported that Danantara Indonesia's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Dony Oskaria, emphasized that public money in state-owned banks would not be used as Danantara's working capital.

"It's not public money that is used for Danantara's capital, and this must be straightened out," said Dony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, February 24.

Dony also said that President Prabowo Subianto had explained about the purpose of the Danantara. In addition, the Danantara will also be monitored with layered supervision.

"Earlier, I received an explanation of what the Danantara looked like, the supervision was multi-layered," said Dony.

Furthermore, Dony said the banks that are members of Himbara have healthy business conditions. You could say, the management will be guaranteed to be good.

"In fact, our banks are in very good condition, very solid, even one of the best banks in ASEAN. Now this must also be conveyed to the public," he said.
