Beckham Son Sanctioned Due To Cole Palmer's Iconic Celebration, Persib Files An Appeal

Persib Bandung player Beckham Putra was sanctioned by the PSSI Disciplinary Commission (Komdis) in the aftermath of a cold celebration such as the iconic style of Chelsea player Cole Palmer during the match against Persija Jakarta. Responding to the sanctions, Persib Bandung is ready to appeal to PSSI.

Beckham was sanctioned after celebrating when David da Silva scored the equalizer goal 2-2. The 23-year-old collaborated with a cold style like Cole Palmer's.

The celebration was considered provocative and gave Beckham a three-match ban and a fine of IDR 75 million.

Persib Bandung did not accept the sentence handed down by Komdis PSSI and was ready to file an appeal. They considered Beckham's celebration not to contain provocation.

In addition, the management also complained that the letter came less than a day before the match against Madura United in the 24th week. As a result, Beckham, who had been prepared to appear, had to be absent.

"The management of Persib deeply regrets the sanctions and penalties given by the PSSI Komdis against Beckham Putra Nugraha for the celebrations carried out in Persib's match against Persija on February 16, 2025 at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi."

"The decision taken less than 24 hours before the match against Madura United is also very unfortunate," Persib Bandung said in a statement on its official website quoted Monday, February 24, 2025.

"As soon as a copy of the PSSI Komdis decision was released on February 20, 2025, the management immediately moved quickly by filing an appeal."

"We file objections and appeal on the basis that Beckham Putra has made no provocation at all," the club continued in a statement.

On the one hand, the management reminded the Persib Bandung squad to stay focused on the existing matches.

They don't want this problem to interfere with the performance of the team struggling to defend the title.

Persib is currently in control of the top of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 standings with a collection of 51 points. The team nicknamed the Blue Prince is eight points ahead of Dewa United who is in second place.
