Hipmi Hopes Danantara Manages Assets Professionally And Transparently

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) Anggawira hopes that the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (Dantara) will manage state assets professionally and transparently to accelerate national economic growth.

He said the Danantara management must be free from political interventions and certain business interests.

"This independence is important to ensure that investment decisions and asset management are made solely for the national interest, of course we don't want incidents like (corruption cases) 1MDB in Malaysia or Jiwasraya to happen again," said Anggawira in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 22.

He said Danantara's leadership must be held by individuals who have a clean track record and high professionalism, have no conflict of interest, and are truly dedicated to national interests.

"Don't let personal interests play in this body," he said.

Anggawira also stated that large-scale state asset management as will be done by Danantara requires managers who have extensive expertise in investment and asset management.

"Managing assets of this size is not an easy thing. We need people who have proven capable at the international level so that Danantara can compete globally and provide maximum benefits for the national economy," he said.

He also emphasized that the management of state investment funds must be carried out with a high level of transparency and accountability so that there is no abuse of authority.

Anggawira hopes that by paying attention to the aspects of independence, transparency, and proper management selection, Danantara can become an investment management body that really contributes to national economic growth.

"Without a strict monitoring mechanism, there is a big risk that can harm the state and society. We need a clear and transparent system so that public trust is maintained, for that there needs to be clear public involvement," he added.

Presiden Prabowo Subianto rencananya akan meluncurkan Danantara pada Senin, 24 Februari mendatang.
