OJK: The Young Generation Has An Important Role In Capital Market Development

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) emphasizes the important role of the younger generation in developing the Indonesian capital market which can contribute to sustainable economic stability.

"As the next generation of the nation, students not only understand the importance of financial literacy, but are also able to apply this knowledge in everyday life," said the Chief Executive of the 2025 Integrated Capital Market, Derivative Finance and Carbon Exchange OJK RI Inarno Djajadi in a public lecture with the theme "Socialization and Education of Integrated Capital Markets 2025" in Padang, West Sumatra, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 21.

He said that the younger generation, including students, should be able to become ambassadors for financial literacy and inclusion, both in the family environment and in the community.

According to him, the younger generation who are literate in the internet is expected to be able to support a wise investment ecosystem in the capital market. Moreover, investment activities of young people, especially the millennial generation and generation Z, are growing rapidly from year to year supported by technological advances.

However, he reminded that the ease of obtaining information also coincides with the potential negative impact in the form of information or news that is doubtful or hoaxes, including investing.

He appealed to each individual to be careful and always prioritize legal and logical in accepting investment offers. This includes ensuring that those offering investment have permission from regulators or authorized agencies.

Likewise, the investment products offered must have a permit from the relevant regulators and ensure the benefits of the products offered by the company are reasonable and there are no indications of fraud.

In addition, he emphasized that OJK as the capital market regulator is always present with a legal, regular and direct investment choice that provides opportunities for young investors to be able to invest safely and sustainably.

"So the younger generation, including students, can start investing with small amounts and the portfolio will be managed by investment managers registered with the OJK," he said.
