Unreasonable Hearts? Recognize The Symptoms Of Aritmia Before It's Too Late
JAKARTA - Heart palpitations with irregular speeds and frequentities must be watched out for. This condition could be a sign of a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia.
Several times you may feel your heart palpitating faster, especially during exercise or being anxious. However, if you are nervous about appearing while resting or taking place continuously, causing chest pain, it can be a sign of arrhythmia," said the Consultant for Heart Intervention and Aritmia at Eka Hospital BSD, Ignatius Yansen, at talk media Eka Hospital in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Yansen explained that arrhythmia is a rhythm disorder that causes the heart to beat irregularly. It can be too fast or takicardia, and too slow or bradicardia.
Normal heart rhythm while resting ranges from 60-100 beats per minute. If the heartbeat is below or above that range, then there is a possibility that someone will experience arrhythmia.
"This misuse occurs due to an electrical signal in the disordered heart, thus affecting the ability of the heart to pump blood optimally," he explained.
Arrhythmias that are neglected and not taken seriously can cause serious complications. Starting from the formation of blood clots that can cause stroke, heart failure, to cardiac arrest.
To treat arrhythmias, there are several ways that can be done, ranging from taking drugs, changing lifestyles, to carrying out heart ablation procedures and planting pacemakers.

Pacemaker
Pacemaker is a device grown under the skin to help the heart beat normally. This tool is usually used in arrhythmia sufferers with a heart rate too slow.
This 'Spacemaker' is like a generator, it works on standby. We can install this pulse at 60. So, during the pulse above 60, he (pacemaker) will not work. Once the pulse is below 60, then he immediately works," said Yansen.
Doctor Yansen said that the pacemaker can be used within 8 to 15 years, depending on the frequent use of it every day.
"It lasts a long time depending on the use. It can take up to 8-15 years. However, if the papermaker continues to work every day, it can only take up to 8 years, and if it can't take a dozen years," he said.
Heart Ablation
Apart from pacemakers, arrhythmias can also be overcome by doing heart ablation. This procedure is usually carried out in people with arrhythmias with a heart rate too fast from the normal range.
"If it's fast, there's a concession in the electrical heart, then we will confirm it with ablation. Where the constituent has been found out, the ablation catheter is directed there and implemented," said Yansen.
Doctor Yansen said that ablation is a process of warming the heart to beat normally. The ablation process is carried out by inserting an ablation catheter tube from the patient's thigh into a problematic heart area.
"Apain the dihelasion, heated like a disorder, is justified so that the rhythm disorder returns to normal. The temperature can be up to 50 degrees, the cable is inserted from the thigh into the heart," he added.
Furthermore, Doctor Yansen said that the treatment of arrhythmias with pacemakers and ablation could help patients recover. With this treatment, patients are also not required to take drugs for life.
"Both with pacemakers and ablation 90 percent of patients can recover, there is no need to take more medicine," said Doctor Yansen.
