JAKARTA - PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) targets the development of new and renewable energy-based power plants (EBT) with a capacity of 2.4 gigawatts (GWh) gradually until 2035.
President Director of PLN Indonesia Power Edwin Nugraha Putra in his statement in Jakarta, Monday, February 17, said that his party initiated the development of EBT to accelerate the energy transition in the country through two megaprojects, namely Greennesia and Hydronesia.
According to him, PLN IP is the largest power generation company in Southeast Asia with a total power plant capacity of 21.5 GW, which will continue to grow along with the construction of EBT-based power plants.
"Development of EBT is a must as a form of our commitment to implementing the energy transition to assist the government in achieving net zero emissions by 2060," said Edwin, quoted by Antara.
Edwin continued, PLN Indonesia Power has two mainstay projects for the development of EBT, namely Greennesia with a total capacity of 1,055 MW consisting of 12 solar power plants (PLTS) and 1 bayu power plant (PLTB).
"PLN Indonesia Power will develop an EBT power plant with a capacity of up to 2.4 GWh until 2035, this project is dominated by PLTS," said Edwin.
Meanwhile, the Hydronesia project is targeted to have a total capacity of 1,345 MW in the form of a hydroelectric power plant (PLTA), which is planned to be completed in stages by 2035.
"The Hijaunesia Project and Hydronesia Project are not only the development of EBT, but also the implementation of PLN Indonesia Power Subholding in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects," said Edwin.
