Indonesia - South Korea Signs Cooperation In The Energy And Investment Sector

JAKARTA - Indonesia and South Korea have quite good bilateral relations, especially in the investment sector. South Korea is a strategic partner for Indonesia in developing the potential of Natural Resources (SDA). The collaboration between the two countries can produce innovations in supporting sustainable development.

The governments of Indonesia and South Korea have implemented policies that support cooperation in the renewable energy sector. It even issued various regulations and incentives to attract foreign investment. Likewise, South Korea encourages every company to participate in projects at the international level, including in Indonesia.

This also prompted the collaboration of South Korean companies, namely LNG KoreaCo., Ltd with PT Charlotte Zeno Indonesia (CZI) which was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement letter in Indonesia's energy and investment fields, in Bali Room, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, Friday 14 February.

The signing of the energy and investment cooperation agreement was attended by the President Director of PT Charlotte Zeno Indonesia (CZI), Mrs. Chiquita Quireen, President Director of LNG Korea Co., Ltd, Mr. Lee Jae Hyun and Executive Vice President of Korea Gas Technology Corporation, Mr. Song Min Ho.

In addition, it was also attended by the Team of Advisors to the President for Political and Security Affairs, Mr. Taviota Bay, Secretary General of the National Security Council, Vice Admiral TNI Agus Hariadi, M.Han., President Director of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Sugeng Rochadi, and Representatives of the Board of Directors of PT Denareksa (Persero) - Holding BUMN.

This collaboration not only has a positive impact on the energy sector but also opens up opportunities to develop for society at large. President Director of PT Charlotte Zeno Indonesia (CZI), Chiquita Quireen revealed, investment in renewable energy projects in Indonesia has created new jobs and supported the development of local communities.

In addition, the project also helps reduce carbon emissions and improve the quality of the environment. Chiquita Quireen said, as a leader in innovation and changes in the company is thinking about how to create a better environmental-based product for human health.

Lee Jae Hyun added that this strategic step was taken as a concrete form together to accelerate the use of hydro energy in Indonesia in line with the target of net zero emissions in 2060.

Executive Vice President of Korea Gas Technology Corporation, Song Min Ho said, Korea Gas Technology Corporation is a company engaged in the import/export sector of natural gas and liquid oil gas, including the construction and operation of LNG terminals and gas supply pipelines, import LNG regasification, and stable natural gas supply to local gas companies.

This cooperation will increase comfort and ensure a stable gas supply and will certainly be environmentally friendly. In addition, we continue to encourage the supply chain expansion project to contribute to the energy supply and balance of national development," he explained.
