Xiaomi 15 Ultra Reveals Periscope Camera Capability In Low Light Condition

JAKARTA - Xiaomi is predicted to launch Xiaomi 15 Ultra by the end of this month. Ahead of launch, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun shared the first photo samples of the device on Weibo.

This photo shows the capabilities of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra telephoto camera in low light conditions, showing a significant increase in night photography.

The shared photo samples were taken using a 100mm periscope telephoto lens on Xiaomi 15 Ultra, not the main sensor. This indicates that the photo was taken with a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP9 periscope camera which has been a rumor.

This sensor, measuring 1/1.4 inches, uses pixel binning 4times4 technology to improve performance in low light conditions. As a result, the resulting telephoto photo remains detailed and sharp even in the dark environment. The camera also reportedly supports 4.3x optical zoom and AI-based digital zoom up to 100x, making it one of the most advanced telephoto periscope cameras in the industry.

Lei Jun previously stated that Xiaomi 15 Ultra will bring major breakthroughs in night photography. This photo sample seems to confirm the claim, with impressive clarity levels, controlled noise, and balanced lighting.

In addition to the camera, Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 2K micro-curved screen, sub-screen ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and satellite communications support. The highest variant will even offer Dual-satellite Beidou connectivity.

For the camera, Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be equipped with a 50 megapixel LYT-900 main sensor, 50 megapixel Samsung JN5 ultra-wide lens, 50 megapixel telephoto lens IMX858, and Samsung HP9's 200 megapixel telephoto periscope sensor. The device is also rumored to have a 6,000mAh battery with support for 50W wireless charging and 90W cable.

Lei Jun also signaled that the price of Xiaomi 15 Ultra may be higher than its predecessor due to rising research and component costs. Xiaomi 14 Ultra was previously launched at a price of 6,499 Yuan (around Rp13.8 million). With current trends, Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be priced more expensive. However, the exact price will be announced at the launch, which is scheduled for the end of this month.
