Bitcoin Price Correction, Long-Term Investment Opportunities
JAKARTA - After reaching an all-time high price (ATH) in January 2025 of US$108,000, Bitcoin experienced a significant correction. On February 3, 2025, the price fell to US$91,000, a decrease of more than 15 percent.
However, on February 4, 2025, the price of Bitcoin had risen again and was recorded at $101,000 before finally falling again on February 10, 2025 to $95,000. This correction shows the volatile characteristics of the Bitcoin market, where prices can increase and decline alternately, influenced by external factors and global market sentiment.
In recent days, this price correction has been largely fueled by trade tensions between the United States and China, especially after the announcement of a new import rate policy by the US President in effect in February 2025. The policy has had a direct impact on the global market, including the crypto asset market, by triggering a sell-off in the short term.
Although the price of Bitcoin has decreased, demand for crypto assets in Indonesia is still high. It can be seen from the increasing number of transactions on the INDODAX platform, INDODAX's internal data total transactions in January 2025 reached IDR 16.019 trillion or around 12.02 percent of total transactions during 2024. Despite the corrections, the Indonesian crypto market is still recording growth, which indicates that interest in Bitcoin and other crypto assets remains solid.
Several other factors that also influence the Bitcoin price correction are global economic uncertainty, particularly related to the big country's fiscal policy and interest rate fluctuations. At the same time, investors are increasingly paying attention to the economic turmoil that could affect the global market, including cryptocurrencies. The increase in interest rates in several major countries has triggered the shift of funds from high-risk assets such as Bitcoin to safer assets.
INDODAX CEO, Oscar Darmawan, explained the Bitcoin price correction and his views on the development of the crypto market.
"The current price collection of Bitcoin shows the natural nature of market volatility. In a dynamic market like this, price corrections are part of a natural cycle, where price fluctuations can affect market sentiment. However, we remain optimistic about Bitcoin's long-term prospects", said Oscar, Wednesday, February 12.
Oscar added that although the market is undergoing a correction, the fundamental factor of Bitcoin remains strong, including wider adoption, both by retail and institutional investors.
"The increasing adoption rate of Bitcoin, as well as the progress of regulations in various countries, provides a positive signal for the future of Bitcoin. In Indonesia, we see significant growth, as reflected in data showing total crypto transactions reaching IDR 650.61 trillion in 2024, a 4-fold jump compared to the previous year," Oscar continued.
Oscar also reminded that although price corrections occur in the short term, Bitcoin's potential for rebounds is enormous. "We have seen previously how Bitcoin is able to recover after experiencing sharp corrections. With a more mature market background and awareness of digital assets continuing to grow, we believe Bitcoin will again show a bullish trend in the near future," he said.
With data showing a significant increase in transactions, Oscar believes that global market uncertainty is a challenge to crypto growth in Indonesia.
"Indonesian investors are increasingly open to opportunities in the crypto market, and we at INDODAX continue to be committed to providing the best and necessary education services so that they can invest wisely, even in the midst of the volatility that occurs," said Oscar.

Oscar Darmawan stressed that despite the current decline in the price of Bitcoin, investors who follow the principles of Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) can benefit in the long term.
"This price collection could be an opportunity for investors to buy Bitcoin at lower prices, especially for those with long-term views," said Oscar.
According to Oscar, the government's steps to support crypto regulation and regulation also provide greater stability for the market, so investors feel safer to participate.
"Obviously a clear regulation will further encourage the adoption of Bitcoin and other crypto assets, creating a more conducive environment for market growth in the long term," he concluded.
Overall, even though the Bitcoin market is undergoing a correction, the potential for long-term increases still exists. For investors who have long-term views, current prices can be an opportunity to accumulate. Moreover, with the projected price movement still in the positive range, Bitcoin remains an attractive option in the investment portfolio.
