PKP Minister Ara Invites Advocates To Defend Consumers Of Subsidized Houses Owned By MBR Not Quality

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) invited the Indonesian Advocates Congress (KAI) to participate in defending Low-Income Communities (MBR) to get quality subsidies.

This was conveyed by Ara at the opening of the IV National Congress of the Indonesian Advocates Congress in Bandung, Monday, February 10.

"If KAI is willing to help consumers, namely low-income people, whose houses are not done properly and properly according to the promise of the developer, I am very open to working together," said Ara as quoted from his official statement, Tuesday, February 11.

For this reason, Ara stated her readiness if KAI was willing to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of PKP, especially ensuring the rights of MBR as a consumer of subsidized houses in order to get quality houses.

"Yesterday I went to several subsidized housing points in Bekasi, I saw that a subsidized house was not carried out properly by the developer. Some were flooded, some were cracked and so on. For that, if you want to help me in that, please (signand) the MoU," he said.

He said developers must be responsible for repairing existing facilities and facilities in the event of damage that interferes with the comfort of residents.

"We control the same thing so that everything is good, the community remains comfortable and healthy," said Ara.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the KAI DPP Siti Jamaliah Lubis welcomed a number of invitations from the ministers who were present to work together.

"We are very open to MoU, I guarantee that advocates in KAI will maintain the code of ethics, because if they violate, we will give a strong warning," he said.
