Memories Of The Fire Irregularity Of The Attorney General's Office Building In 2020

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has a big role in upholding justice in Indonesia. They have the authority to prosecute all kinds of crimes, especially corruption. Andil made the AGO have great authority to examine major corruption scandals in Indonesia.

Djoko Tjandra's bribery scandal made Jiwasraya the warmest. However, the case that was running was disrupted by the fire incident at the main building of the AGO. The fire incident is suspected by the public as a strategy to eliminate evidence of corruption.

No one doubts the effectiveness of the AGO in investigating corruption cases. The country's top institutions have the authority to carry out investigations, investigations, pre-prosecution, charges, demands, and execution of court decisions.

Attorney Pinangki reportedly received bribes from Djoko Tjandra corruptors who were involved in the Bank Bali scandal case. The AGO is also having a big homework to investigate other cases such as Jiwasraya money laundering. The Indonesian people's spotlight is directed at the integrity of the AGO.

The Indonesian people are worried that the AGO will not be much different from other law enforcers who can be bribed easily. However, in the midst of a horrendous news investigation, it emerged from the AGO's Main Building in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

The main building of the AGO caught fire at night on August 22, 2020. Seven floors of the building could not be saved. The building that caught fire was the Attorney General's office to the personnel bureau. The fire department also tried to carry out the handling.

They moved 65 units of fire engines. However, the flames had already eaten the buildings. The fire made the people more pessimistic about the enforcement of the AGO's corruption case.

They consider there is an evil plan to eliminate evidence of corruption. However, the AGO tried to calm the Indonesian people by calling the file 100 percent safe.

"We have data backup, we have data backup, and it has been anticipated. If something happens, then, the first step, the second step, has been anticipated, because we all don't know what is called a disaster".

"In this digital era, we also have a record center, so hopefully the backup data can still be used for future purposes," said the Head of the AGO, Hari Setiyono, as quoted on the detik.com page, August 23, 2020.

The Indonesian people do not just believe in the AGO's view. The AGO fire is suspected to be part of eliminating evidence of the crime CCTV that recorded the Pinangka Prosecutor meeting anyone missing.

All people and NGOs, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) support the police to investigate the fire at the AGO Building. In fact, they asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to be involved.

Instead of getting a clear answer, the investigation from the police revealed other things. The cause of the fire, including burning the Pinangki Prosecutor's office, came from cigarette butts from the builder because there was renovation at the AGO.

The statement was revealed by the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Ferdy Sambo on October 23, 2020. The cigarette gains from the builder were the main causes of severe fires. The cigarette gains grabbed flammable materials such as tiners, blackboard glue, and cleaning fluids.

The investigation carried out by the National Police is doubted by many because it is odd. The power of cigarette stalls as lighters is considered unreasonable. The public also considers the Police not really serious about conducting investigations.

The reason for the cigarette butts actually strengthens speculation that the AGO fire was intentional to eliminate evidence of corruption cases. The negligence of the builders is considered too far-fetched. Moreover, CCTV at the AGO Building is missing. Recently, the AGO fire case only confirmed five builders who were sentenced to one year in prison each on July 26, 2021.

"All the objects that the handyman threw into black polybagplastics, there were three seeds. All of them were collected, used lap tiers, wood scars were put there, including cigarettes being thrown there".

"(The room) is empty, there is smoke. The carpentry who are still working below see the fire from above, let Kamdal (Domestic Security) know. Kamdal rises, there is smoke. It's smoke first, right, if he is ignited, immediately fire," said Sambo as quoted by the CNN Indonesia website, October 26, 2020.
